fitPrescriptionsRx was formed in 1994 by Mike and Linda Stollings. Linda was at that time the Fitness Director for the Bristol YMCA. She also taught many fitness and wellness classes. She saw the need to educate people on the benefits not only of aerobic conditioning but also of strength conditioning.
Linda decided to open up a small business on the side, with the help of her husband Mike. Because of Linda's passion for fitness and her background in Physical Education, she obtained her personal training certification from the American Council on Exercise. She began training clients at the YMCA and also other local gyms. She was also the official trainer of the Miss Virginia Pageant.
